My Visit to Austin...

Sorry for the lack of posts, I just got back from visiting some of my very good friends that live in Austin, Texas. I had such a great time, what a cool city. Have you ever been there before? If you haven't, I would seriously recommend you put it on your list! Austin has such a cool vibe, I think some of the nicest most unique people live there. They all dance to the beat of their own drum, whatever style you want to be is okay!

The people of Austin really cater to the local music, eateries and shops. I love that I didn't see a whole lot of chain restaurants, there were a ton of food trailers, something I'm not used to seeing in Utah, such a fun concept.  We ate out quite a bit and being vegetarian, it can be a struggle to find good food. I have to say that I was overly impressed with every place we ate at. The food was amazing and the restaurants had a good vegetarian selection with lots of healthy choices.

We stopped by the local Farmers Market, I don't think I have ever seen a more gorgeous, organic selection of produce before. If I wasn't leaving the next day, I would have wanted to stuff bags full of all the yummy, gourmet food!

We went to South Congress Bridge to watch the bats make their nightly descent at dusk. This was quite the attraction, it really was amazing to see over 1 million bats grouped together take flight.

The Colorado river (Texas) runs through Austin. There is a lot of kayaking, canoeing, and rafting that takes place on the lake.

We drove through a upper scale suburb because naturally I wanted to check out the different styles of architecture. In this particular neighborhood, I fell in love with about 90% of the homes. The homes in this area were so charming and unique.  The majority of  landscaping was impeccable with perfectly manicured yards.  I could have took a lot more pictures of the beautiful homes in this area but I narrowed it down to my top 3.

Something that really stood out to me was the abundance of unique fences, they all looked so artfully put together, I didn't see one vinyl fence, that is so common to see all over Utah.

We had to make the trek to San Antonio to see the Alamo and the River Walk. We ate at a delicious bistro called Boudro's. I would highly recommend eating there if you are ever in the San Antonio area.

My friend's sister lives in a beautiful part of Austin with her house right off the lake. It was so fun to go there and relax and enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery.

I would go back and visit in a heartbeat! Good friends and a cool city, can't wait to go back!
