My Brother's New Home...

My brother has been in the process of building their first new home and I have helped and given advice on some of the design decisions along the way. For starters, how cute is the laundry room tile. They decided to go with a linen texture, checkerboard style pattern, I love the way it turned out, it has a lot of personality!

I met my brother and sister in law at the tile store and as soon as I spotted the linear tile in the natural stone,  I knew it had to go in their home. Normally, this tile is not cheap but we were able to find it in the discount area because their was not much square footage left. The picture doesn't do this tile justice, it is gorgeous in real life!

I suggested framing out the fireplace with columns and a mantle and doing the ship lap pattern up top. My talented sister Jodi is amazing at wood work and can carry out and conceptualize just about anything, she did all the wall paneling in their home.

I suggested going with a natural, hickory wood flooring to add a lot of rustic variation but still retain that natural wood look. I love the contrast with the white cabinets.  Their kitchen table will go under the cool, brown light fixture.

Of course paneling had to be added to the plain pony wall, I love the dimension and visual interest it adds.

The over sized, gray subway tile in the kids bathroom has a nice texture and looks very modern and sleek!

My brother and sister in law are exercise addicts and have the bodies to prove it! While we are on the subject, you should check out Tiffany's FB page, she is a health coach and has helped a lot of people achieve their fitness goals!  They decided on a rubber flooring for their workout room in the basement. I'm sure it will be easier on the joints and how fun to have a separate workout room apart from the rest of the house!

My brother and sister Jodi have been working on this amazing headboard. They kept it as a secret project to surprise my sister in law. I think they did an amazing job! My sister is currently working on putting a glaze to go in between the cracks to really make it pop. They fastened it to the wall and will just push the bed up next to it. I will take more pictures and give more details once this project is complete.
