A decorating tip for two story walls...

When we built our home, I thought how cool it was going to be that our front room was two stories high. Then when we moved in and I started to decorate and buy some new furniture pieces, I realized that designing and decorating this room with the high ceilings was much more of a challenge than I had ever expected it to be. Some of the original furniture pieces I had when we first moved in were not going to work to scale with the room, they looked like little dollhouse pieces.

One of the things that I wanted to see happen was to have some sort of wainscot to break up the tall walls. I like the design that I came up with and I have been happy with the look of it. I was having problems trying to think of a plan for the wall above the couch. I knew that it was lacking something but I didn't have any good ideas on how to change that.

A while back, I went to a high-end interior design store and saw three rectangular mirrors hung above a couch, the mirrors had wire brushed white-oak frames that matched my hardwood floors. I was in love but not so much with the price tag. I knew the mirrors were out of my price range so my search continued. I went to Ikea for something totally unrelated and I stumbled upon these mirrors that looked almost identical to the ones I saw a while back. With a $40 price tag, I knew these babies were coming home with me. I really like the way the light reflects in this room and I think this was the perfect solution for these tall walls!
