Before & After: An oldie but a goodie...

I have a major itch right now to start a project...whether it be remodeling an old house or building a spec home to sell. I DON'T want to move at all so I am not looking to sell,  just to work on an investment project! I'm hoping that I can satisfy this urge through working on other people's homes...It sounds adventurous and fun but also I don't know if it's a "risk" worth taking...

I was going through some old photos and came across these pictures of our last home that we gutted and remodeled. I can remember taking my parents to go look at this lovely home and they just looked at me like I was on drugs. I was trying to explain to them what I would do to change things but I don't think they were convinced and my husband was a bit of a skeptic too. I knew that it would take a ton of work but that we could for sure get this home looking good!

I was so excited to rip out these oak cabinets and let the light shine through with some glossy white cabinets. I sold these old cabinets on the local classifieds and made a good chuck of change. I wouldn't of thought that they would have been in such high demand but they didn't take long to sell.

I was excited about bringing some color in through the back splash and also through using my glass bottle collection to display above the cabinets. We replaced all the broken, black appliances and took down the old wagon wheel chandelier :) I also couldn't wait for the wood laminate flooring to be a part of history and add some dark espresso bamboo flooring. I loved the way the dark floor looked but they were a nightmare to keep clean!

This house was a huge project with a lot of blood, sweat and tears involved but I was so proud of the new look and it was all worth it in the end. I think I will bring back some of the old "before" and "afters" from this house. It's fun to look back and remember when...

I truly love to see the potential in homes that are hidden gems, it brings me a great sense of satisfaction to find the beauty in places that could be easily overlooked!
