Before & After: A crisp new look..

Remember the post I did a while back about the nook area I have been working on? Well it's complete and I love the way it turned out!
My friend has great style to begin with but needed a second set of eyes to give her ideas for her nook area as well as her living room. For starters, she wanted to brighten up her space. I suggested going with a lighter paint color on the walls and painting all the trim and doors white. The walls in her nook are really tall. I thought it would look best if we broke up the extensive wall space and added some wainscot. After going over several different wainscot designs, we settled on this classic design that I adore! I love to go with styles that will still look good and not dated 5 years from now.
We added a wood pelmet box to add height to the back doors to make them appear taller. We picked out this great fabric and my client went to work sewing the drapery panels to hang on the sides of the doors.
We found these pretty frames to create a gallery wall. My friend wanted to add pictures that had personal meaning to her. We decided to have her family pictures printed out in a film grade color to blend with the tones in her space.
Next, we wanted to add some architectural element to the wall space above her settee. I suggested adding some paneling and a mirror to create a focal point and brighten her room. I love the way the paneling frames in this gorgeous mirror. It didn't take a lot of materials to create such a statement!
