I was tagged....

If you have never checked out Jessie's blog Mix and Chic, you need to head on over there to be inspired by thousands of images of gorgeous interiors. Jessie has an eye for design and her blog is proof of that.

Last week I was one of the blogger's picked on Jessie's blog to answer these 11 questions. These questions really got me to thinkin...

1. What is your favorite room to decorate and why?

My favorite room to decorate is a little girl's room. There are so many fun things you can do that don't have to be taken too seriously. I love feminine fabrics, colors, furniture, artwork, accessories etc..I like to see a little girl's room decorated with a look she can grow with. Nothing too babyish or cartoon like.. something a little more refined.

2. What is your favorite decorating trend?

Right now the trend that I can't seem to get enough of is nail head trim. I think it adds just the right dose of texture. I like the sophistication it adds to a piece of furniture. It can polish and finish off a piece of furniture like nothing else!

3. Which decorating trend you think is way overrated?

I would have to say that the decorating trend that I think is too overrated is the Chevron print. I like to use this print very sparingly. I think more than one Chevron print in any one room is too much and too busy.

4. What is your biggest decorating pet peeve?

My biggest decorating pet peeve might only take place in Utah, I'm not sure. It seems a lot of decorators here are afraid of taking risks. I have given up on going to the Parade of Homes because the majority of the homes are decorated so predictably a lot of them look very similiar in style and in architecture. The majority of the colors used are very neutral, the counter tops are always granite and the exterior you can count on will be brown stucco. I have really grown tired of the gloomy, Tuscan look. Occasionally there will be a home that really stands out and is "out of the box" for Utah.

5. Averagely, how much time do you put into a blog post?

I would say the time I spend on a blog post can definitely range. Some nights I feel very creative and have the energy and thought process to put together a post that shines. Sometimes a post will come together quickly. Other nights after a long day, I feel like I have nothing left, not even a brain cell.

6. What have you learned/ gained from blogging?

I have learned a lot from blogging. I think it has been just the outlet that I need. I love being a wife and a mother but it can be very easy to forget yourself in the process. I have always been the creative type and thrive off of being able to use this talent whenever possible. I think blogging is such a great way to connect to other creative people across the globe that otherwise would not be possible. I have learned so many great tips and have been inspired by so many talented people.

7. Who do you most admire in the blogging world and why?

There are many amazing blogger's these days. Of course, I am biased and usually am only drawn to the blogs that contain design content. I really adore Jenny from LGN. You can tell that she truly cares about each and every post she publishes and you know a lot of time and ownership is involved with her blog. I think she has given us all such great ideas on DIY projects that she tackles on a regular basis. It is obvious her passion for interior design, it is exuded from each and every blog post.

8. What is the coolest opportunity that has come your way because of your blog?

The coolest opportunity that has been a product of my blog has been to design for others. After remodeling two of my previous homes and than designing and building the home we are currently in, it has been so fun to have a vision for someone else's space. I have enjoyed having a steady stream of clients and hope that my blog can continue to be an extension of my business.

9. Who is your favorite decorator and why?

To be completely honest, I do not have a favorite designer. I can appreciate work from most decorators and draw inspiration from all different types of design styles. Some designers stand out to me more than others. Of course I do adore designs from Kelly Wearstler but I wouldn't classify her as my favorite.

10. What is a little-known fact about you that your readers would be surprised to learn?

I am a Mormon vegetarian with a tattoo. I have been a vegetarian for more than half my life. When I was young, my sister always told me the gross facts about the processing of meat. These ideas stuck in my head and I could never bring myself to eating a piece of meat and don't ever plan on it! I have grown up in the LDS religion and have been a member my whole life. Religion is a huge part of my life and I don't know where I would be with out it. It is really comical that I have a tattoo on my lower back. I grew up being pretty conservative and wanted to break the rules a little bit when I graduated from High School. I spent the summer after High School living with my Aunt and cousins in Hawaii and decided on a whim to get a tattoo. It was my way of rebelling. Maybe I will get it lasered off one of these days.

11. What do you hope your blog will achieve in the long run? Please elaborate.

I hope that my blog will continue to grow my design business. I would love to take on some E-design clients and grow my clientele locally. I hope to inspire people to take action in their own homes to create spaces that makes them feel proud and happy!

So that's it! Hopefully you feel like you got to know a little more about me...

Great post! love learning more about you. And I too am a vegetarian- I chose it for health reasons and wont ever go back. But my husband jokes and calls me a pasta-tarian b/c I eat more pasta than anything. which is not healthy but I gotta have my carbs. LOL

Staci, it's great to learn more about you. I agree that decorating for a little girl's room can be so much fun. You can pick out all the girly and whimsical stuff and be as creative as you want. Most kids are flexible. :)

I love your answer to my fourth question. :)

Thanks for playing along and for the lovely shout out.

Enjoy your day!

That was a fun post to read about you on your birthday!

ps. I think I saw Dave tonight in H & M at Fashion Place. Were you with him? If so, I'm bummed I didn't follow him to see you.

I hope you had a great birthday!
