I would love your opinion...

I feel like I have a mental block when it comes to decorating my own house. I can easily give advice to others about their home's and know what would look good but when it comes to mine, I struggle to figure things out.

I sold the mulit colored colored rug in my entryway because the colors have been driving me nuts. I initially bought the rug when we first moved in and I had not figured out what color scheme I was going for in my front room. Now that I have invested in some pieces the rug had to be out of the picture.

Here's whats going on right off the entryway since it might be hard to tell from the pictures. I have a green couch, gray chairs, the tall console table is a weathered gray and my carpet is a really dark brown.

I need to find another flat weave type rug since the door opens over the rug. Have any of you design enthusiast come across a rug that you think would look good with what I have going on? I am always in a hurry to finish things up and knowing me I will just buy something to get it done and it probably won't be the right choice. I would love to know your opinion!

Thank you!

A little picture of what the rug looked like before...

I am no help ... but have been dreaming about your carpet since the first time I saw it! What brand or style is it? I need it! Love your style.

Mickelle if you buy this carpet, it will be the best decision you have ever made. My Dad works for Lemco Floor coverings in Murray and he can hook you up. Here is the info: Shaw - Creative Style - Scimitar in the zebra print. It also comes in different colors. This dark color shows everything so I am glad that it is in our formal room that doesn't have a lot of traffic. I had my eye on this carpet months before building and I have no regrets!

I checked out your photography website. Amazing... seriously, you are so talented! You do gorgeous work!

Woops, the color I have is not Scimitar, it is Rhino.

Flor has new carpet tiles that look like sisal. I think they would be great in an entry way like yours without competing with the bench. You could swap accessories in the entry way if you wanted to bring additional color into the room. Your house is lovely. http://www.flor.com/suit-yourself-raffia.html

I love the idea of the sisal tiles. I looked at the link and love the simple design and the fact that I could get the right size for the space. Thanks for the link!

We have a flat weeve zig zag from West Elm in our second floor hallway that I really like. I also thought of this one from Ikea (do you have Ikea near you? I always like to inspect everything in person before I purchase from Ikea): http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50168285/
I don't have any experience with FLOR but the options and custom size seems like a nice option. If you got the FLOR route I'd love to hear what you think.

Oh and Day 3 of lipstick!

So funny Holly, I have that exact rug from Ikea in our family room. Great minds think alike! I am still trying to get used to wearing the lipstick, I keep kissing my kids and than wondering what all the red stuff smeared all over their faces is.

Dash & Albert makes a nice flat weave. It comes in 3 different colors- charcoal, blue & cream.

or what about the Surya rug like in your sisters house. I know that one comes in tons of colors.

I love those ideas too Amanda. Hmm, now there are too many good choices. I will keep you posted on what I decide...

Jessie, I am in love with all three of those options too. There was a West Elm rug very similiar to the second rug you linked to that was so pretty and they no longer carry it. I love the green one too it would tie in nicely with my couch. You have great style, thank you for the links.
