Adding character with columns

In my last home, the front porch needed some serious curb appeal. Before the round columns existed there were painted 2x4's holding up the fort and they weren't doing the job. I went to Home Depot and special ordered the column surrounds. They were easy to install just by wrapping the columns around the 2x4's. The columns came primed so it was an easy fix to paint.

Recently, I have been noticing a lot of columns used in the interiors of homes, it sure adds architectural interest and a new dimension. You could add so much texture and color to your home by adding columns. I have been considering places in my home to make this happen!

I love the black glossy paint color featured on these columns here.

The antique columns used in Nie Nie's basement remodel done by Alice Lane.

The antique columns make another debut in the February/March issue of Elle Decor.

These columns could be gorgeous against a crisp white backdrop!

A less obvious exposed wood column still adds dimension to this room.

The cement columns featured in this Manhattan Loft are amazing!
