Pelmet boxes

Items needed for our version of the pelmet box:

1. Fabric
2. Batting
3. Duct tape
4. Foam board
4. Hot glue gun

I have been wanting to do some sort of window covering for my back windows. I didn't want to cover up the windows with blinds since there is horse property behind us. I thought the windows needed a little something to dress them up. I love pelmet boxes and they have been on the brain for some time now. I googled instructions on how to make them. I fell upon a step by step tutorial on one of my favorite design blogs little green notebook. Here you can find the simple instructions.
My talented husband who does an amazing job at whatever task you give him did an excellent job! We did waiver from the directions a bit. We used a glue gun instead of a staple gun. Also, we did not use brackets to attach the box to the wall. We are ghetto and simply used the glue gun to attach. One thing I would do differently is to cover the back and sides of the box with fabric as well. This was a really budget friendly project that packed up a punch! I could not get a good close up shot because of the light coming through the window, sorry these are all kind of far away.
I found the fabric at Material Girl in South Jordan Utah, they really have a unique selection.

If you make your own pelmet box, I would love to see pictures!

Staci!!! You are brilliant!!! Your posts and idead inspire me. Especially this one. I have been trying to decide what to put on my windows. I didn't want anything too frilly or busy. I love the simplicity of these. Now I just have to find the right fabric. Thank you!!!
